India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) suggested replacing certain Russian components of Ka-226T light multipurpose helicopter by parts made in India, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Russian corporation Rostec Dmitry Shugaev told TASS on Tuesday.
"The Indian partner represented by HAL delivered a proposal on substitution of certain components by the ones produced in India. This proposal is considered and we will definitely send the response to our partners," Shugaev said at Defexpo India - 2016 exhibition.
Production program should be agreed in spring, he added.
An agreement on joint production of Ka-226T lightweight multipurpose helicopter was signed in December 2015. Sixty choppers will be supplied to India already assembled and 140 more will be produced in India, Deputy Chief Executive of Russian Helicopters holding affiliated with Rostec Igor Chechikov said in February 2016.
