Commission of the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan zeroed import duties on aircraft, "Vedomosti". This measure, which will enter into force on 19 August is temporary and applies only to the leasing schemes. Furthermore, it is not concerned aircraft capacity from 50 to 111 and from 160 to 219 seats.
Zero rate will apply to aircraft imported until the end of 2018 to contracts signed prior to 2014. The parties, however, consider the extension of the zero interest rates in 2013.
Earlier zero duties already operating in Belarus and Kazakhstan. These countries do not have their own aircraft industry, and therefore did not put obstacles to the importation of civil aircraft from abroad. However, during the formation of the Customs Union, the issue was one of the most acute, as Russia did not want to expose their production capacity available threat of imports from abroad.
In the past, zero duties on passenger aircraft in Russia concerned only two types of aircraft - up to 50 and 300 seats. Who will be allowed to import duty-free almost all categories, except those that can compete with the new Russian model - Sukhoi Superjet 100, MS-21 and the Ukrainian An-148.
Russian airlines will benefit greatly from this decision, as they will be able to import foreign ships without a significant margin. Only the "Aeroflot" will save money on buying 16 Airbus about $ 250 million in the next two years.
Recall that in March 2010, the largest Russian, Belarusian and Kazakh companies, in particular, "Aeroflot" Transaero ", Air Astana and Belavia asked Customs Union cancel fee. Carriers explained that the Russian aviation industry with the needs of the airlines can not cope, and the need for the payment of fees on imported machinery put carriers at a disadvantage compared to foreign competitors.
Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan signed documents on the establishment on 1 January 2010 of the Customs Union at the end of November 2009. In the summer of this year, entered into force on a single Customs Code of the three countries.
