CIRRUS VISION JET G2+
Cirrus Vision Jet G2+: The Jet That Landed Itself into History
The Parachute and the Promise
The Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 G2+ didn't just enter the market - it rewrote the rules of personal aviation. While other manufacturers debated whether single - engine jets could be safe, Cirrus answered with a whole-airframe parachute and a button labeled "Safe Return." Press it, and the aircraft lands itself. No pilot required. No drama. Just a quiet touchdown on the nearest suitable runway.

This is the aircraft that turned turboprop owners into jet pilots. The gateway drug of business aviation, if you will but one that keeps delivering long after the addiction sets in.
A Cabin That Defies Physics
Step inside the Vision Jet G2+ for sale, and the first thing you notice is the space. Not the cramped tube you expected from a "personal jet" but a 5-seat cabin (6 with the optional +1) that feels genuinely livable. The G2+ upgrade brought autothrottles, improved climb performance to FL310, and an electrical system with intelligent batteries that think ahead.

The G2+ arrived in 2021 with a reworked thrust profile that gives up to 20% better takeoff performance in demanding hot-and-high conditions. Cirrus also added Gogo inflight Wi-Fi. The basic aircraft concept stayed the same, which is a good thing. The G2 was already a mature design.

The numbers tell part of the story.

The G2+ burns 49 gallons per hour which is 10.9% less than the G2 while delivering the same 1,846 lbs thrust from its Williams FJ33-5A engine.

Range: 2,361 km (1,275 nm). Enough for Chicago to Miami. London to Athens. Non-stop.

But the real magic is the CAPS - Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. Pull the red handle, and the entire aircraft descends under a canopy. It's saved hundreds of lives in Cirrus piston aircraft, and now it's standard on a jet. Insurance companies notice. Owner-operators sleep better.
What the G2+ feels like to operate
The Vision Jet is built around a single-pilot operating philosophy.
Autothrottle takes some of the routine power management away from the pilot. Garmin's Perspective Touch+ flight deck gives the pilot a lot of information without turning the cockpit into a switch hunt. The G2 also raised the certified operating ceiling to FL310, and the G2+ kept that capability while improving performance during takeoff and initial climb.

That does not mean the airplane is a toy.

It is still a turbine aircraft operating in the flight levels. You need proper training, good IFR discipline and a realistic understanding of weather, icing, fuel and runway performance.
A pilot coming from a Cirrus SR22 will recognize some of the design thinking. A pilot coming from a turboprop may appreciate the same thing for a different reason: the aircraft gives you jet altitude and speed without moving into the size and complexity of a conventional light twin.
That is the appeal.
Cirrus Vision Jet G2+ competitors
The main aircraft buyers usually compare with the Vision Jet include:

HondaJet Elite II / Range: up to 1,547 nm / Passengers: up to 6 or 7 depending on configuration / Maximum cruise: 422 KTAS.

Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 / Range: up to 1,550 nm / Passengers: up to 7, depending on configuration / Maximum cruise: 404 KTAS.

Embraer Phenom 100EX / Range: approximately 1,178 nm / Passengers: typically up to 7, depending on configuration. The Phenom 100EX is another single-pilot-friendly very light jet and is aimed directly at owners who want a compact business jet with more conventional twin-engine architecture.

These aircraft are worth comparing. They are not interchangeable.

The HondaJet and Citation give you two engines and more speed. The Phenom brings its own cockpit and cabin philosophy. The Cirrus brings CAPS, Safe Return and the owner-pilot concept into the middle of the discussion.
The Verdict
The Vision Jet G2+ isn't just an aircraft - it's a statement, that single-engine jets can be safe. A statement that owner-operators deserve jet speeds without jet complexity. A statement that sometimes, the most revolutionary feature isn't speed or range, but a red handle that says, "We've got you."

For the pilot stepping up from a SR22, or the entrepreneur buying their first jet, the G2+ offers something no competitor can match: the confidence to fly alone, but never be alone.
