The 2007 Affordable Falcon
Dassault developed the Falcon 2000DX as the shorter-range member of the 2000 family. The basic idea was straightforward: take the 2000EX EASy, reduce fuel capacity, and keep the large Falcon cabin and PW308C engines. EASA documentation confirms that the DX is essentially an EX EASy with reduced fuel capacity.
That gives the DX a different place in the market. Its published range is around 3,378 nm with full passenger seating, with maximum range figures around 3,400 nm depending on the source and operating assumptions.
The point was simple. Buyers who regularly flew shorter missions did not need to carry the fuel capacity of the longer-range 2000EX.
Specifications That Optimized Value
• Range: 6,297 km (3,400 nm): transcontinental, not transatlantic;
• Speed: 850 km/h (459 knots): same as other 2000s;
• Capacity: 8 - 12 passengers in the unchanged cabin;
• Avionics: EASy II - same as premium Falcons;
• Price: Significantly lower than EX models.

You get a 26.2 ft cabin with a width of about 7 ft 8 in and a height of about 6 ft 2 in. Cabin volume is roughly 1,024 to 1,028 cu ft, depending on the published specification.
That is a lot of cabin for an aircraft designed around a roughly 3,400 nm mission.
The other important detail is the powerplant. Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C engines produce 7,000 lb of thrust each. The DX also uses the EASy flight deck architecture, and Dassault specifically lists EASy II upgrade capability for the model.
There is a trade-off here. The reduced fuel capacity is exactly what separates the DX from the longer-range EX family, so the mission needs to be right before you start comparing aircraft.
Three Things Worth Knowing
  • The DX is an EX EASy derivative
That sounds like a technical distinction, but it is useful when looking at aircraft records. EASA describes the Falcon 2000DX as a commercial designation for a Falcon 2000EX EASy with a fuel-capacity reduction.
That tells you where the aircraft sits in the family and why its engines and avionics should be considered alongside the EX generation.
  • EASy II is not just a brochure term
Dassault's Falcon service documentation specifically lists the 2000DX under its EASy II upgrade system. The upgrade includes changes to hardware and software and can form the basis for options such as WAAS-LPV, ADS-B Out and synthetic vision.
The exact aircraft status still needs to be checked.
  • The cabin is the real selling point
At 7.7 ft wide and 6.2 ft high, the cabin has the proportions buyers expect from the larger Falcon 2000 family.
That is what separates the DX from many smaller super-midsize alternatives.

Challenger 604 for sale / Range: around 3,700 nm is commonly published, with 12-passenger configurations available.

The Challenger 604 is an obvious comparison because it also puts a large cabin and transcontinental capability into a two-engine package. Its cabin is wider than the Falcon's, at about 8.17 ft, and the aircraft typically seats more passengers.

The Falcon becomes particularly interesting when cabin design, Dassault operating philosophy and the specific aircraft's maintenance history carry more weight than maximum passenger count.

Gulfstream G200 for sale / The G200 is closer in mission than its larger Gulfstream relatives. It typically seats eight passengers and has a published long-range figure of about 3,394 nm.

Its 7.2 ft cabin width is narrower than the Falcon 2000DX's roughly 7.7 ft width.

That is a comparison worth making in person. Numbers tell you the dimensions. Sitting in both aircraft tells you what those dimensions actually feel like.
Where This Aircraft Makes Sense
The DX works best when the mission is regional or transcontinental and the cabin matters.
Think eight passengers, a useful baggage load and a 2,000 to 2,500 nm trip. There is enough range margin for a practical mission without buying an aircraft whose extra fuel capacity will rarely be used.
A Moscow to Dubai trip with a normal passenger load puts you much closer to the aircraft's intended range envelope than a short European sector does. Weather, winds, routing and reserves still determine what is practical on a particular day.
Different mission, different answer.
If regular trips are pushing toward 3,000 nm and beyond, I would start comparing the DX with the 2000EX, LX or other aircraft with more range rather than assuming the DX will always be the better value.
The Verdict
The Falcon 2000DX is a good fit for an owner who wants the 2000 family's large cabin and PW308C power but whose normal missions do not justify the longer-range EX variants.
The important point is to buy the aircraft, not just the model name. Engine status, maintenance records, avionics configuration and actual range requirements can move the value equation considerably.
If your typical mission is eight passengers and roughly 2,000 to 2,500 nm, I would put the Falcon 2000DX on the shortlist and then compare specific aircraft with records in hand.
