The 2012 Final Evolution
Dassault introduced the Falcon 2000LXS as the next step in the 2000 family, combining the Falcon 2000LX's winglets with additional leading-edge slats to improve runway performance. The result is a large-cabin twin with a 4,000 nm published range and runway numbers that are unusual for an aircraft of this size.
The concept is easy to understand. Give the 2000 family more lift at low speed, keep the efficient PW308C engines and winglets, and make the airplane useful at airports where a larger business jet may have fewer options.
Specifications That Dominate
• Range: 7,408 km (4,000 nm): transatlantic with reserves;
• Speed: 850 km/h (459 knots) - Mach 0.86 maximum;
• Capacity: 8 - 10 passengers in the quietest Falcon cabin;

The LXS features EASy II avionics, FalconResponse AOG support, and FalconCare maintenance programs. It's the best-selling Falcon 2000 variant with close to 700 total 2000 series delivered.

The LXS is built around a useful combination: a 92-inch-wide cabin, 4,000 nm of range, and a 4,675 ft balanced field length at maximum takeoff weight. The short-field capability is not a brochure detail. It is one of the main reasons to look at the LXS.
Dassault added inboard slats to the existing high-lift system. Together with the winglets, leading-edge slats and double-slotted Fowler flaps, they give the aircraft strong low-speed performance without giving up its long-range mission.
Then there is the cabin. At 74 inches high and 92 inches wide, it has the wide-body feel that has always been central to the Falcon 2000 family. Cabin length is 26 ft 2 in, with 1,024 cubic feet of cabin volume.
Three Things Worth Knowing
  • The runway numbers are a big part of the story.
A 4,000 nm aircraft with a 4,675 ft takeoff distance is an unusual combination. Dassault also publishes a 2,260 ft landing distance and a 105 KIAS approach speed. Those figures explain why the LXS is often considered when airport access matters as much as range.
  • The PW308C is an important ownership detail.
These engines are also used on the Falcon 2000EX and LX. On a pre-owned LXS, I would look closely at engine status and the maintenance program rather than treating every aircraft with the same model designation as equal. Current Dassault-listed aircraft show PW308C engines supported under programs such as JSSI and maintenance tracked through CAMP, depending on the individual aircraft.
  • EASy II is the standard starting point, but equipment still varies.
The LXS uses the EASy II flight deck with Honeywell Primus Epic. Individual aircraft can have different communications, connectivity, surveillance and vision-system equipment, so the actual avionics specification needs to be checked on the aircraft being considered.

Challenger 650 for Sale / Range: 4,000 nm under Bombardier's published conditions / Passengers: 10 standard, up to 12 maximum.

The Challenger 650 is one of the most direct comparisons. Its published range matches the LXS, while its cabin is wider and it carries more passengers. The Falcon's advantage is runway performance: Dassault publishes a 4,675 ft takeoff distance for the LXS, compared with 5,640 ft for the Challenger 650.

Embraer Praetor 600 for Sale / Range: 4,018 nm with four passengers and NBAA IFR reserves.

The Praetor 600 belongs to the super-midsize class and brings a much newer cabin and avionics philosophy to the comparison. It also has strong runway performance, with an unfactored landing distance of 2,165 ft under Embraer's published conditions. The Falcon counters with its wide-body cabin and a longer-established platform.
Where This Aircraft Makes Sense
Think about a company that regularly carries eight passengers, needs a wide cabin and wants to connect European and Middle Eastern destinations without moving into a much larger aircraft. That is a natural LXS mission.
Paris to New York is one of the city pairs Dassault uses to illustrate the aircraft's range capability. Actual trip planning still depends on winds, payload, reserves and routing.
Shorter missions are where the aircraft can look even more practical. The LXS has the cabin and range for long trips, but its low-speed handling and runway performance also suit regular one- or two-hour sectors. Dassault specifically positions it for short, frequent missions as well as intercontinental flying.
Different airport, different advantage.
The Verdict
The Falcon 2000LXS is a particularly good fit for an owner who wants eight to ten seats, a wide cabin, around 4,000 nm of published range and access to shorter runways than many aircraft in its size category.
Its strongest argument is the combination. The range is useful, the cabin is large, and the runway numbers are unusually good.
If your normal mission is eight passengers and 2,500 to 3,500 nm, I would put the 2000LXS on the shortlist and then look closely at the individual aircraft's engine programs, maintenance status, avionics and actual mission payload.
