Gulfstream G600 for Sale: 6,600 nm of Range Without Moving Up to the G700
The 2019 G500 Stretch
Gulfstream announced the G500 and G600 on October 14, 2014. Both were clean-sheet aircraft built around a new flight deck, new wing and new Pratt & Whitney Canada PW800 engines. The G600 was the longer-range member, with a cabin stretched beyond the G500 and a larger fuel load.

The first G600 flew on December 17, 2016, from Savannah. Five aircraft eventually joined the flight-test program, including a fifth aircraft with a production interior used for cabin, systems and function testing.

FAA certification arrived on June 28, 2019. The first customer delivery followed on August 8. EASA certification came in May 2020, opening the aircraft to European deliveries.

The original launch target was 6,200 nm at Mach 0.85. Flight testing changed that number. Gulfstream first raised it to 6,500 nm, then to the current published 6,600 nm. High-speed range also moved up, eventually reaching 5,600 nm at Mach 0.90.

That history matters because the G600 was not simply a G500 with more fuel. It became a distinct aircraft with a 45 ft 2 in cabin, 1,884 cu ft of cabin volume and a 94,600 lb maximum takeoff weight.

Three Things Worth Knowing
  • The G600 became better than the aircraft Gulfstream originally promised:
At launch, the target was 6,200 nm. During the flight-test program, Gulfstream announced 6,500 nm at Mach 0.85 and 5,100 nm at Mach 0.90. By 2020, the published figures had reached 6,600 and 5,600 nm respectively.
The same development work reduced basic operating weight by 570 lb compared with the original figure and raised full-fuel payload to 2,600 lb. Gulfstream said those improvements applied to aircraft already in service without modification.
That is an unusually useful detail when looking at an early G600. The production aircraft did not simply retain the performance target announced in 2014.

  • The engine choice changed the Gulfstream formula:
The G600 uses two PW815GA engines. That was a major change for Gulfstream because the company's large-cabin jets had traditionally relied heavily on Rolls-Royce powerplants. The PW815GA produces 15,680 lb of takeoff thrust.
The PW800 family was developed specifically for this class of business jet. Pratt & Whitney Canada positioned the PW800 around efficiency, emissions, noise and maintenance characteristics, while Gulfstream integrated it into the clean-sheet GVII design.
For a pre-owned buyer, engine status deserves its own line of attention. The aircraft's age may be similar, but engine program position can be very different.

  • London City is now a genuine G600 option:
Gulfstream demonstrated steep-approach operations at London City and Lugano during the aircraft's development. The G600 subsequently received FAA steep-approach approval, followed by EASA approval in January 2026.
That matters to an owner who wants access to airports closer to the final destination.
It does not mean every G600 can simply use any short runway. Airport performance remains dependent on aircraft weight, weather, runway condition, operating rules and the applicable airport approval.
Gulfstream G600 Competitors
Bombardier Global 6500 for sale, the closest paper comparison / Range: 6,600 nm at Mach 0.85 / Passengers: 13 standard, up to 17 maximum in Bombardier's current environmental product declaration.
The Global 6500 is the most direct comparison because its published range is exactly the same as the G600's 6,600 nm. It uses Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines, has a 99,500 lb MTOW and a published top speed of Mach 0.90.
The cabin philosophy is different. The Global 6500 has a longer overall airframe, while the G600's advantage is its newer Gulfstream GVII flight deck and larger published cabin volume relative to the Global 6500's passenger configuration.
For a buyer comparing these two, I would put the actual cabin layout and payload requirement on the table before worrying about the identical range number.

Bombardier Global 7500 for sale, the larger alternative / Range: 7,700 nm. / Passengers: up to 19.
The Global 7500 adds roughly 1,100 nm of published range over the G600 and was designed around four living areas. Bombardier also gives it a maximum speed of Mach 0.925.
It is the aircraft to study when the mission regularly pushes beyond the G600's comfortable range envelope. If those missions are occasional, the extra aircraft may be difficult to justify.

Gulfstream G650ER for sale, the longer-legged Gulfstream / Range: 8,200 nm / Passengers: up to 19.
The G650ER remains the Gulfstream comparison that can make a G600 buyer hesitate. Its range is 1,600 nm greater, and its cabin is larger.
There is another important difference. The G650ER uses Gulfstream's PlaneView II flight deck and traditional yoke controls, while the G600 introduced the Symmetry flight deck and active sidesticks.
So the choice is not simply old versus new. It is also a question of cockpit philosophy.

Gulfstream G700 for sale, the cabin upgrade / Range: 7,750 nm / High-speed cruise range: 6,650 nm at Mach 0.90 / Passengers: up to 19.
The G700 takes the same general Symmetry cockpit philosophy and stretches the cabin dramatically. Gulfstream lists up to five living areas and a 7,750 nm range.
The G600 is 45 ft 2 in long inside. The G700 moves into a different cabin class altogether.
If you need five living areas, the answer is fairly obvious. If four are enough, the G600 deserves a much closer look.

Dassault Falcon 8X for sale, the three-engine alternative / Range: 6,450 nm with 8 passengers, 3 crew and NBAA IFR reserves / Passengers: 12 to 16.
Maximum operating speed: Mach 0.90.
Engines: three Pratt & Whitney Canada PW307D.
The Falcon 8X comes very close to the G600's range while using three engines and Dassault's EASy IV flight deck. Its cabin is 42 ft 8 in long, 92 in wide and 74 in high.
Its strongest argument is airport flexibility. Dassault publishes a 5,880 ft balanced field length at MTOW and a 107-knot typical approach speed.
The G600 answers with a wider cabin, higher maximum operating Mach and a two-engine PW815GA installation.
Where This Aircraft Makes Sense
The G600 starts to become compelling when the mission regularly sits in the 4,000 to 6,000 nm class.

Imagine eight passengers leaving Europe for North America, or the Middle East for Asia, with enough fuel planning margin to avoid turning every headwind into a fuel discussion. The published 6,600 nm range at Mach 0.85 gives the aircraft a useful long-range envelope, while the 5,600 nm figure at Mach 0.90 gives the owner another option when time matters more than maximum range.

That high-speed capability is more than a number on the brochure.

A G600 has set multiple city-pair speed records, and Gulfstream has used the aircraft extensively for long-distance demonstrations. By March 2026, the fleet had accumulated more than 197,000 flight hours and 95 city-pair speed records.

The cabin also changes the mission. Four living areas allow an owner to separate working, dining, relaxation and sleeping areas, rather than treating a long flight as one large seating compartment.

If most trips are 2,000 to 3,000 nm with six passengers, the picture changes. A G500, Global 6500 or another smaller long-range aircraft may be a better fit.

Different mission.
The Verdict
The G600 is the aircraft for an owner who wants genuine intercontinental capability without automatically moving into the largest Gulfstream class.

Its numbers are strong: 6,600 nm at Mach 0.85, 5,600 nm at Mach 0.90, Mach 0.925 maximum operating speed, a 45 ft 2 in cabin and up to four living areas.

More importantly, the aircraft has now accumulated enough fleet experience to move beyond the "new Gulfstream" question. Two hundred G600s had been delivered by March 2026, and the fleet had logged more than 197,000 flight hours.
