Embraer's First Legacy 650

Last week, Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica S.A., or Embraer (ERJ - Analyst Report), the largest Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, delivered the first Legacy 650 large executive jet in Brazil. Recently, Embraer signed an agreement with Deutsche Lufthansa AG for eight new EMBRAER 195 jets for a total value of $338 million and delivered the first ultra large Lineage 1000 executive jet to VIP charter company Falcon Aviation Services of Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Embraer executive jet services joins the national partnership for environmental priorities

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes Embraer Executive Jet Services (EEJS) as the newest environmental steward to join the National Partnership for Environmental Priorities (NPEP). As an EPA partner EEJS will recycle fluorescent lamps and aircraft batteries, ensuring safe reuse of lead and mercury.

Business Aviation Picking Up In Boston

The business aviation sector got some positive press from the mainstream media this week when The Boston Globe reported that corporate jet activity was up by 7 percent in 2010 at Hanscom Field, a small GA airport close to the city. Bill Herp, president of Linear Air, said his business doubled in 2010 compared to the year before. Herp charters four Eclipse jets out of the field, charging about $1,500 an hour. Rectrix Aviation, another local charter company, said business was up 15 percent, and they hired three pilots and added a jet to their fleet in September. The number of jets based at Hanscom has increased by a third in the last three years, and the Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates the field, is planning to expand.

Airbus, Boeing kick off 2011 with more aircraft sales

Airbus and Boeing rang in the New Year with aircraft orders from easyJet and CIT Aerospace, respectively. EasyJet confirmed it reached an agreement with Airbus to exercise options covering 15 A320 aircraft valued at $1.1 billion at list prices for delivery between 2012 and 2014 and to convert an existing order for 20 A319s into the larger A320 model.

Honda Motor Co. says the first FAA-conforming version of the small business jet it has been working on for years made its first flight. The plane, called the HondaJet, flew from the company’s Honda Aircraft Co. operation at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C.

Bombardier Logs Orders for Seven Business Jets

Bombardier Aerospace today announced that it received firm orders for five midsize Learjet 85 and two large cabin Challenger 605 jets, from multiple companies of the same group, for principal operation in Germany by Munich-based Jet Air Flug. The total value of the order is approximately $155 million US, based on the 2010 list price for typically equipped aircraft.
