Bombardier Global 8000: The Supersonic Achievement
The 2024 Speed and Range King
The Bombardier Global 8000 was introduced as the new flagship of the Global family. It is based on the Global 7500, but Bombardier pushed the aircraft further in three areas that matter on long-range missions: range, speed, and cabin altitude.

The Global 8000 entered service in late 2025 after certification by Transport Canada and the FAA. EASA certification followed in January 2026.

There is one point worth clearing up from the start. During flight testing, the Global 8000 reached Mach 1.015 in level flight. That test was real. However, the production aircraft is certified for a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.95. So calling the Global 8000 a supersonic business jet would be inaccurate.
Specifications That Rewrite History
  • Range: 8,000 nm, or 14,816 km - New York to Hong Kong, London to Perth. The calculation includes 8 passengers, 4 crew, and NBAA IFR reserves at Mach 0.85.
  • Speed: Mach 0.95 maximum, Mach 0.92 ultra high speed cruise - supersonic achievement.
  • Passengers: Up to 19.
  • Cabin: 8 feet wide, 6 feet 2 inches high, with four cabin zones.
  • Engines: Two GE Passport engines, rated at 18,920 lbf of thrust each.
  • Maximum operating altitude: 51,000 feet.
  • Cabin altitude: 2,691 feet at 41,000 feet.
  • Avionics: Bombardier Vision flight deck with Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics.
Three Things Worth Knowing
  • 8,000 nm does not mean every flight will go 8,000 nm:
A pilot always looks at range together with payload, winds, fuel reserves, and cruise speed.
The published 8,000 nm figure is therefore a performance reference, not a promise for every mission. On a real trip, the number can change.

  • The cabin altitude really does matter:
At 41,000 feet, the cabin is maintained at an equivalent altitude of only 2,691 feet.
On a short flight, you may barely notice the difference. After many hours in the air, it becomes a much more useful feature.
Bombardier also uses its Pũr Air system with HEPA filtration, along with the Nuage seating system and Soleil cabin lighting.

  • It is essentially an evolution of the Global 7500:
For an owner or pilot already familiar with the Global 7500, the concept is straightforward.
The Global 8000 adds more fuel, increased thrust, a higher speed capability, lower cabin altitude, and avionics changes. The basic four-zone cabin concept remains.
The differences are in the details.
Bombardier Global 8000 Competitors
Gulfstream G800 for sale / Range: 8,000 nm.
The G800 is probably the most direct comparison with the Global 8000. It has the same published 8,000 nm range, while its maximum operating speed is slightly lower at Mach 0.925.
When comparing these two aircraft, I would look beyond the speed figures. Actual routes, cabin requirements, airport access, support, and how the aircraft will be used are more important.

Gulfstream G700 for sale / Range: 7,750 nm / Passengers: Up to 19.
The G700 gives up some range compared with the Global 8000 but has a very large cabin with multiple living areas.
Its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.935, so it remains a serious competitor. For an owner who puts cabin space and interior flexibility first, the 250 nm difference in published range needs to be considered alongside the actual routes.

Dassault Falcon 10X for sale / Range: 7,500 nm / Passengers: Up to 19 / Maximum operating speed: Mach 0.925.
The Falcon 10X is particularly interesting because of its cabin. Dassault lists a cabin width of 9 feet 1 inch and a height of 6 feet 8 inches, both larger than the Global 8000.
The Global 8000 has a 500 nm range advantage, along with a higher maximum operating speed. At this level, the decision comes down to what matters most to the owner: range and speed, or cabin size.

Bombardier Global 7500 for sale / Range: 7,700 nm / Maximum operating speed: Mach 0.925.
This is the closest relative to the Global 8000 and probably the most natural aircraft to compare it with.
The Global 8000 adds range and speed, while retaining the basic Global 7500 cabin concept. For an existing 7500 owner, the question is different. It is worth calculating how much the additional capability is actually needed before moving to an 8000.
This is not simply a question of which aircraft is better. It is a question of the mission.

Dassault Falcon 8X for sale / Range: 6,450 nm / Passengers: Up to 12 to 16, depending on configuration.
The Falcon 8X is well below the Global 8000 in range, but it remains relevant for an owner who does not need 8,000 nm.
The 8X takes a different approach to size and operation. If most of your routes are well below the Global 8000's maximum range, a more compact long-range aircraft may be the more sensible choice.

The Global 8000 for sale is designed for an owner who actually flies long distances.

London to Perth or a long North America to Asia mission tells you much more about its purpose than a two-hour flight between European cities.

Take a 7,000 nm mission with a normal passenger load. That is where the extra range starts to become useful. Add strong headwinds, increase the cruise speed, or carry more baggage, and the calculation needs to be done again.

That is normal flight planning. Range is always calculated for the actual mission.

There is another side to it. If most of your flights are two hours or less with four passengers, much of the Global 8000's capability will go unused.
The Verdict
The Global 8000 is easy to understand from a pilot's point of view.

It is designed for long sectors where range, speed, and a proper large-cabin environment all matter.

If you regularly fly 6,000 to 8,000 nm sectors with a meaningful passenger load, the Global 8000 deserves a close comparison with the G800, G700, and Falcon 10X using actual routes and payload figures.
