Gulfstream G800 for Sale: The 8,200 - NM Jet Built for the Longest Missions
Gulfstream unveiled the G800 on October 4, 2021, alongside the G400. The idea was clear: take the technology developed for the new G700, keep the proven G650ER-sized cabin, and build Gulfstream's longest-range aircraft.

The G800 first flew on June 28, 2022, starting a certification campaign that would last considerably longer than Gulfstream originally expected. The first production aircraft dedicated to cabin testing flew in November 2024, reaching 46,000 feet and Mach 0.91.

Certification came on April 16, 2025. That date changed the story slightly. Gulfstream had originally targeted 8,000 nm, but the certified aircraft achieved 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85. It also reached 7,000 nm at Mach 0.90 and 8,000 nm at Mach 0.87.

The first customer aircraft was delivered on August 27, 2025, from Gulfstream's Appleton completion center.

Three Things Worth Knowing
  • The Pearl 700 is not an off-the-shelf engine choice:
Rolls-Royce developed the Pearl 700 specifically for the G700 and G800. It produces 18,250 lb of takeoff thrust and received EASA type certification in September 2022.
For an owner, the support structure matters as much as the engine specification. Rolls-Royce's CorporateCare Enhanced program covers engine management, shop visits, parts, engine changes, AOG support and Engine Health Monitoring, among other services.
That makes engine program status a real acquisition point, not just a maintenance footnote.

  • Gulfstream improved the numbers during certification:
The aircraft entered the program with an 8,000-nm target. Certification established 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85, 7,000 nm at Mach 0.90 and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935. Takeoff performance also came in at 5,812 ft under the published conditions.
Those improvements are useful because the G800 is sold around long missions. An extra 200 nm can matter when a route sits close to the aircraft's planning limit.

  • There is some serious certification engineering behind the cockpit:
The G800's side-stick controls and electronic flight-control system were treated as novel design features by the FAA. Separate FAA special conditions addressed control-surface awareness, high-incidence protection and the loading requirements for the side-stick controllers.
That is not brochure detail. It shows how much of the G800's cockpit architecture is different from older Gulfstreams.
Gulfstream G800 Competitors
Bombardier Global 8000 for sale:
Range: 8,000 nm / Passengers: up to 19 / Maximum speed: Mach 0.95.
This is the closest current competitor. The Global 8000 gives up 200 nm of published range to the G800 but has the higher maximum operating speed. It entered service in December 2025, and its FAA and EASA certifications followed later in the program.
For a buyer who values speed as heavily as range, the Global 8000 deserves a very close look.

Bombardier Global 7500 for sale:
Range: 7,700 nm at Mach 0.85 / Maximum speed: Mach 0.925 / Passengers: 19.
The Global 7500 is the established alternative. It has four full-size living spaces and a cabin designed around long-haul travel, while its published range remains 500 nm below the G800.
It also has a mature in-service fleet, which is something a brand-new G800 cannot yet match.

Dassault Falcon 10X for sale:
Range: 7,500 nm at Mach 0.85 / Passengers: up to 19 / Cabin width: 2.77 m.
The Falcon 10X takes a different approach. Its cabin is 16.4 m long, 2.77 m wide and 2.03 m high. That is substantially more cabin than the G800.
The compromise is range. Dassault publishes 7,500 nm, 700 nm below the G800.
The 10X made its first flight on June 19, 2026 and is now in its certification campaign, so it is a future alternative rather than a mature in-service competitor.

Gulfstream G700 for sale:
Range: 7,750 nm / Passengers: up to 19 / Living areas: up to 5.
The G700 is the obvious internal comparison. Its cabin is 17.35 m long with 73.71 m³ of volume. The G800 gives up cabin space to gain 450 nm of published range. Both use Pearl 700 engines and the Symmetry Flight Deck.
If you regularly carry large groups, the G700 is probably the better Gulfstream.

Gulfstream G650ER for sale:
Range: 7,500 nm / Maximum speed: Mach 0.925.
The G650ER is the aircraft the G800 was designed to replace at the top of Gulfstream's range. When the G800 was announced, it promised 500 nm more range. Certification ultimately pushed that advantage to 700 nm.
The G650 family also has a long operating history. G650 and G650ER aircraft had accumulated more than one million combined flight hours by early 2025, according to Corporate Jet Investor.
That maturity is the G650ER's strongest argument.

Dassault Falcon 8X for sale:
Range: 6,450 nm / Passengers: 12 to 16.
The Falcon 8X is a smaller and very different aircraft, but it enters the conversation when runway flexibility and Falcon's three-engine layout matter. Its 6,450-nm range is well below the G800, while its 48 m³ cabin is also considerably smaller.
For a buyer who needs maximum intercontinental range, the G800 is in another class. For a buyer whose missions include airports with tighter runway requirements, the Falcon deserves attention.
Where This Aircraft Makes Sense
The G800 is most useful when the route is long enough for its range advantage to matter.

Take eight passengers and four crew. At Mach 0.85, Gulfstream publishes 8,200 nm with NBAA IFR reserves. Increase cruise to Mach 0.90 and the published range falls to 7,000 nm. Gulfstream says the higher-speed profile can save up to 1.5 hours on flights longer than 6,500 nm when comparing Mach 0.80 with Mach 0.90.

That gives the owner two useful tools. Stay at Mach 0.85 when maximum range is the priority. Push toward Mach 0.90 when the route has enough margin and time matters more.

The G800 can also be configured around up to four living areas, with seating for 19 and sleeping accommodation for up to 10.

If most flights are short, the G800's size, weight and acquisition cost are difficult to justify.
The Verdict
The G800 is a specialist aircraft, and that is a good thing.

Its strongest argument is simple: 8,200 nm at Mach 0.85, 7,000 nm at Mach 0.90, a 51,000-ft maximum cruise altitude and the latest Gulfstream cockpit, all wrapped around a cabin derived from the G650ER rather than the larger G700.

If the mission is eight passengers, long sectors and a genuine requirement for 7,000 nm or more, the G800 deserves a detailed aircraft-specific analysis before you compare anything else.
