Hawker 900XP: The Final Evolution of the Hawker 125
The Hawker 900XP arrived as the final development of the long-running Hawker 125 family. Raytheon launched the model in 2006, FAA certification followed in September 2007, and customer deliveries began later that year.

The formula was straightforward. Hawker kept the proven 800-series airframe and cabin, then fitted Honeywell TFE731-50R engines and refined the winglet installation. The result was a faster-climbing Hawker with better hot-and-high performance and more range than the 850XP.

Production ran through 2012. Hawker Parts identifies serial number HA-0213 as the last certified Hawker 125, which left Wichita in September 2012.

So "final Hawker" needs some precision. The 900XP was the final evolution of the Hawker 125 line, not literally the last aircraft ever to carry the Hawker name.

Three Reasons an Owner Might Choose It
  • The cabin is unusually useful for this size of aircraft:
Six feet of width and 21 feet 4 inches of cabin length give the 900XP a strong passenger proposition. Eight seats are standard in the published configuration, with some aircraft fitted for nine passengers.

  • It has real midsize-jet range without moving into a larger cabin class:
The 900XP combines a 10,000 lb usable-fuel figure with a 1,620 lb full-fuel payload and published range figures around 2,700 to 2,930 nm, depending on the assumptions.
That is the useful part of the design.

  • There is a trade-off, and some buyers will prefer it:
The 900XP gives up cabin length and newer-generation systems compared with newer midsize aircraft. What it gives back is a proven platform with a wide cabin and strong payload for its size.
If you are buying used, that can be attractive when the individual aircraft has excellent records and strong engine coverage.
Hawker 900XP Competitors
Cessna Citation Latitude for sale:
Range: 2,700 nm with four passengers / Passengers: up to 9.
The Latitude is the newer-generation alternative. Cessna gives it a 6-foot stand-up, flat-floor cabin and 1,000 lb full-fuel payload. The Hawker has the older airframe design, but its published full-fuel payload is higher at 1,620 lb.

Cessna Citation Sovereign for sale:
Range: around 3,000 nm / Passengers: up to 12 depending on configuration.
This is the aircraft to examine when the mission starts pushing beyond the 900XP's comfortable range envelope. The Sovereign family also gives the buyer a longer cabin and a newer overall platform.
The Hawker remains attractive when cabin width, payload and acquisition value matter more than maximum range.

Bombardier Challenger 350 for sale:
Range: 3,200 nm with eight passengers.
The Challenger 350 sits above the 900XP in size and mission capability. Bombardier publishes 3,200 nm with eight passengers and a 43,000-foot direct climb capability.
It is a very different ownership proposition. If the mission regularly requires 3,000-plus nm, the Challenger deserves the extra cost and size.

Cessna Citation XLS+ for sale:
Range: roughly 2,100 nm class / Passengers: typically 7 to 9.
The XLS+ is the simpler comparison for buyers who want a midsize cabin but operate shorter sectors. The Hawker has the longer published range and wider cabin, while the Citation brings the advantages of a more compact and newer-generation Citation design.

Embraer Phenom 300E for sale:
Range: 2,010 nm / Passengers: up to 10 depending on configuration.
The Phenom is smaller and much newer in concept. Embraer publishes 2,010 nm with five occupants and NBAA IFR reserves for the 300E, while current Phenom 300EV data lists 2,055 nm.
The comparison is really about mission size. The Hawker gives the buyer a larger midsize cabin and substantially more published range.
Where This Aircraft Makes Sense
The 900XP fits missions where cabin space matters and the normal trip is comfortably inside roughly 2,500 nm.

Take eight passengers and a 2,500 nm sector. The published eight-passenger range is 2,733 nm, giving some margin on paper, but wind, routing, payload and reserve requirements still need to be considered for the actual flight.

Hot-and-high operation is another area where the 900XP was designed to improve on the earlier Hawkers. The TFE731-50R installation was specifically associated with stronger performance at altitude and in higher temperatures.

If the normal mission is 3,000 nm with a full cabin, I would start looking at larger aircraft. The 900XP can be stretched into missions that look good on a brochure, but that is not the same thing as having comfortable operational margin.
The Verdict
The Hawker 900XP is a strong used-aircraft proposition when the mission calls for a wide cabin, eight passengers and roughly 2,500 nm sectors.

Its TFE731-50R engines, Pro Line 21 cockpit and 1,620 lb full-fuel payload remain useful specifications. The 6-foot-wide cabin is another reason the aircraft continues to attract attention.
